A SOLUTION TO THE NUCLEAR NON-EUROPE HELPS COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE

12.09.2008 - The Committee on Industry, Research and Energy of the European Parliament rejected the proposal to support nuclear energy as a useful source to combat climate change.

voting the report signed by Luxembourg Green Claude Turmes Directive on the promotion of renewable energy , was rejected an amendment, 981, argued that''the need to introduce plans for the development of all low-carbon sources in Europe.'' The word hid his wish to promote nuclear power within the package of renewable energy in practice to consider like solar, wind and biomass. The amendment, supported by the European People's Party, was rejected: 27 votes in favor and 22 against. The directive must now be scrutinized by the 27 ministers.

Met WWF, according that "The improper attempt to equate a source of renewable energy sources and not at all without impacting issues such as quella nucleare è stato giustamente respinto. "We hope - said the WWF - that decisions on energy mix of our country stem from these considerations, and not dictated by ideological choices and accurate and powerful interest groups."
